Cutting
We open each converter on alligator shears and separate the ceramic from the steel shell.

Milling
The material is milled and homogenised into a uniform powder, ready for sampling.

Sampling
The sample is taken right at the mill and analysed on XRF in our laboratory. You are welcome to attend, and a referee sample is available. The result sets the metal value.

You don't need to prepare anything before you come. We take converters just as they came off the car, and decanned or milled material too. Cutting, milling and sampling all happen here, and your delivery is valued from the sample.

06What we recover
Three precious metals, inside every converter.
The ceramic inside a catalytic converter carries platinum group metals. That is where its value lies, and each delivery is valued from the sample.
Palladium
Oxidises carbon monoxide and unburnt hydrocarbons. The most widely used of the three in petrol car converters.
